Headlines for the Week Ending December 27, 2008

1. Cops accused of Toys for Tots thefts ‘tarnished’ police’s image, official says

The four District of Columbia police officers reportedly caught on tape stealing from Toys for Tots “tarnished” the department’s image, a police official said.

Can we start to make examples of crooked law enforcement, politicians and other civil servants?

2. Don’t take health tips from celebs if you know what’s good for you

From Madonna’s quest to “neutralize radiation” to Tom Cruise’s dismissals of psychiatry, celebrities are seldom shy about expressing their views on health and science – even when they appear not to know what they are talking about.

A roll call of public figures such as Cruise and Delia Smith have offered bogus advice or “quackery” this year, according to scientists and doctors. The charity Sense About Science is concerned that celebrities mislead the public when they endorse theories, diets or health products while misrepresenting the science involved.

It’s the same thing that I was saying about the global warming hoax. Dumb celebrities promote dumb science. They don’t even realize that they are being used to look like idiots to sell wooden igloos to the unsuspecting public.

3. NY Times solution to the economic crisis: Raise the Gas Tax

More taxes are always their solution. Too bad the people aren’t tired of it yet. But they will when their children are hungry.

4. Little Blue Pills Among the Ways CIA Wins Friends in Afghanistan

The Afghan chieftain looked older than his 60-odd years, and his bearded face bore the creases of a man burdened with duties as tribal patriarch and husband to four younger women. His visitor, a CIA officer, saw an opportunity, and reached into his bag for a small gift.

Four blue pills. Viagra. "Take one of these. You'll love it," the officer said. Compliments of Uncle Sam.

Well well, our tax dollars are still being spent well I see. Bailouts, scams, wars, lost jobs going overseas, more taxes and complimentary Viagra. What a deal!!!!!

  1. New York’s Soda Tax Scam

http://www.junkscience.com/ByTheJunkman/20081225.html

So the government is continuing to find ways to penalize us for making bad choices. The government gives these manufacturers a license to provide their products then the government turns right around and punishes the product and makes it less attractive to their customers. If it is an unhealthy product or not isn’t the issue. Why did the government approve the product in the first place, if it is so bad? Big brother is way out of control, and the people are accepting, as usual.

  1. The Government now wants to tax farting. I’m serious………

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,462445,00.html

What more can be said about this? One day the people of this nation are going to wake up (hopefully) and ask, “What have we let happen to our country?” That can’t happen soon enough……

  1. Princeton Physicist Calls Global Warming Science "Mistaken"

This is like I have always said. But all the phony proponents of this foolishness have to do is add cool and trendy commercials to this lie and people believe it. People, I am begging you to wake up. If they are lying about this, about what else are they lying?

  1. Kids Learn That Killing Is Fun at the Army's Lethal New Theme Park

http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/113079/kids_learn_that_killing_is_fun_at_the_army%27s_lethal_new_theme_park_/

No, killing isn’t cool or fun. It is a part of life for those who are called to serve in this capacity. It isn’t to be taken lightly or abused. But many of our servicemen/women and civilian youth are being conditioned to accept this type of barbaric behavior as trendy. We are truly living in a warped society.

9. Teen Arrested After Passing Gas at School

At best, this was just disgusting. But because he was rude for not excusing himself from the class before he passed gas, he probably should have been reprimanded. But arrested? The cop who arrested him needs to be suspended without pay.

10. Elf, Grinch Ticket Red-Light Runners

http://www.clickorlando.com/news/18235930/detail.html

This is cool. Huh? No, this is not cool. But this is nothing new. Governments throughout history have trained the public to be spies on each other for the Government; instead of the people watching out for each other against real criminals. But most people will say that I am paranoid, but if they were in Nazi Germany observing the exact same thing happening, they would have a different opinion on the matter.

  1. U.S. Troops May Be Deployed In Arizona

http://www.roguegovernment.com/news.php?id=13113

Why are US troops being deployed domestically? The Government must be expecting something serious to happen.

12. Top 25 Censored Stories for 2009

Keep moving, folks. Nothing to see here!!!!!

13. Mexico’s Calderon Says Beheadings Signal Cartels’ Desperation

Mexican President Felipe Calderon hailed eight soldiers who were decapitated in Guerrero state as heroes who died at the hands of criminals growing increasingly desperate amid his government’s crackdown on drug cartels.

Actually, Calderon and the Mexican military are being played by the drug cartel.

14. CBS: KBR knowingly exposed troops to toxic dust

A CBS News investigation has obtained evidence that a subsidiary of Halliburton, the giant energy company formerly headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, knowingly exposed United States soldiers to toxic materials in Iraq.

You mean the company that gets the “no bid contracts?”

15. FBI taps cell phone mic as eavesdropping tool

The FBI appears to have begun using a novel form of electronic surveillance in criminal investigations: remotely activating a mobile phone's microphone and using it to eavesdrop on nearby conversations.

The technique is called a "roving bug," and was approved by top U.S. Department of Justice officials for use against members of a New York organized crime family who were wary of conventional surveillance techniques such as tailing a suspect or wiretapping him.
