An Informed Political Decision for Bible Believing Christians



I am writing this article because I am so upset with the Church, at large. Christians, for the most part, are so misinformed about our natural world. Many churches teach and many Christians confess Scriptures, claiming the promises of God. Yet, when it comes to choosing leaders to legislate and to execute just laws for which they are authorized to do, most Christians and church leaders are asleep at the wheel. No one cares what the church thinks. God's people use to be the Elders in the gates (communal authority). But today, the church is a laughingstock in the earth, generally speaking. All people, Christian and Non-Christians, need to be informed about placing leaders in positions of authority over us. Politics and religion govern most of our lives in one form or another, directly or indirectly. Everything that we do is basically governed by laws: doing business, banking, investing, education, taxes, travel etc. are all regulated by laws of the government somehow. If you ask most Christians (regardless of ethnicity) about politics, they will give you many reasons why they choose a candidate, or they don’t get involved in politics at all. From my experiences, most people pick political candidates for the wrong reasons. But here at BG Street, we don’t want to hear the mainstream media rhetoric, and we don't care about what your parents taught you, or what your ethnicity happens to be. We want relevant information, so that we can process it and make sound decisions that will help us and the ones we love. So let’s see what the issues are (in line with Scripture, common sense and the US Constitution), and not what partisan politicians or your ethnic group thinks.



We don’t just need to know that the Bible says about salvation, healing or financial prosperity, but we also need to know what God’s Word says about: military actions, taxes, capital punishment, welfare, investing, the environment, social programs etc. Church parishioners are misinformed because they don’t take the initiative to get informed, and most churches are 501 (3c) corporations and are forbidden by law to take a solid stand for political candidates who support REAL issues. What a joke! I totally understand why so many in the world don’t respect the Church. The Church has the usual sayings: “this world is not my home,” “Jesus is coming soon,” “I’m in the world but not of the world.” Oh give me a break! Though these statements are true, they are cop outs. Many in the Church need to unpack their spiritual bags and stop being so preoccupied with the Rapture (the coming of Jesus). We need to be more concerned about living right lives, influencing those around us for good and being active participants in practicing God’s way of doing things in every part of our everyday life. Jesus is coming back, that has already been established, but He’s not coming back until His enemies are made His footstool (Mark 12:36). This won’t be fulfilled until the Church starts being the Church and stops playing Church! Praying, fasting and reading the Bible are great, but until the Church can master practical application of those spiritual truths in the earth realm, we won’t be as effective as we should be. No one cares that you can speak in tongues, cast out devils and pray the prayer of faith. What matters is can you get results to meet people where they are. Or are you just a powerful Christian within the Church building?

The Issues:

Abortion

Although this is the unofficial “litmus test” for Christian political activism, it is a matter that must be addressed in its most succinct form. The Preamble (Outlines a general philosophy of government that justifies revolution when government harms natural rights), from the Declaration of Independence (1776), states: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.. The pre-born child, whose life begins at fertilization, is a human being created in God's image. The first duty of the law is to prevent the shedding of innocent blood. God hates that (Proverbs 6:17). It is, therefore, the duty of all civil governments to secure and to safeguard the lives of the pre-born. To that end, no Christian should support the practice of infanticide, euthanasia or suicide with your vote or your money, directly or indirectly.

Limited Federal Government, Encourage More Local Government

The closer civil government is to the people, the more responsible, responsive, and accountable it is likely to be. The Constitution, Articles I through VI, lists the powers which may be exercised by the federal government. Article I, Section 8 specifies the authority of the Congress. The federal government was clearly established as a government of limited authority. The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution specifically provides that: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." We the people need to be in charge, not the politicians. We send them to office to serve us, not vice versa. This is a bi-partisan issue; government has been growing exponentially under both major parties: Republicans and Democrats.

Big Government Spending

A legitimate and primary purpose of civil government is to safeguard the God-given rights of its citizens; namely, life, liberty, and property. Only those duties, functions, and programs specifically assigned to the federal government by the Constitution should be funded. The government has no authority to fund the arts, regulate education, transportation, commerce, farming, etc. In fact, some of the tenets of the Communist Manifesto call for these types of regulations imposed by a centralized government. America and Americans have fallen from a mighty long way. It’s time to stand on principle and not follow the candidate with the most money.

Crime

Crime, in most cases, is to be dealt with by state and local governments. The right of states and localities to execute criminals convicted of capital crimes (Genesis 9:6) and to require restitution for the victims of criminals (Exodus 22:1-7) should be exercised. Romans 13:4 states that the civil magistrate “bears not the sword in vain.” We all know that swords aren’t used for spankings or timeouts, they are for executing people. The governmental structure has this authority from God to punish law breakers that deserve this type of punishment. Turning prisons into recreational centers and educational facilities definitely needs to be revisited. Rehabilitation and redemption are great, but tax payers shouldn’t fund this. Trial by jury should also be employed more because many of the lawyers today are not truly interested in justice, rather a settlement and/or another victory under their belt.

Defense

It is a primary obligation of the federal government to provide for the common defense, and to be vigilant regarding potential threats, prospective capabilities, and perceived intentions of potential enemies.

Education

Federal government control of education is one of the tenets of the Communist Manifesto. In America, the Federal government has no authority to control, regulate or fund education. The Bible assigns the authority and responsibility of educating children to their parents (Proverbs 22:6). Parents should decide if they want to home school, or have some other sort of private schooling for their child. Collecting property taxes to fund a public school where your children may not attend is not fair or Constitutional. The chairman of the Communist Party, U.S.A., 1932, William Foster, in his book Toward a Soviet America, called for a U.S. Dept. of Education, the teaching of evolution, elimination of nationalism and religion in schools, the teaching of internationalism, and for the use of the Pavlovian method (direct instruction) on the students. Again, there is no governmental responsibility to educate children. They take our money and teach the children what may not be what the family wants the children to learn. This is totally not in the best interest of our children.

Family

The law of our Creator defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman. This marriage covenant is the foundation of the family, and the family is fundamental in the maintenance of a stable, healthy and prosperous social order (Genesis 4).

Foreign Policy/National Sovereignty

The United States is properly a free and sovereign republic which should strive to live in peace with all nations, without interfering in their internal affairs, and without permitting their interference in ours. American participation in any form of world government organization, including any world court, membership in the United Nations (and its subsidiary organizations), U.N. peace keeping operations, the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), and any other such trade agreements should never be allowed. All treaties must be subordinate to the Constitution, since the Constitution is the only instrument which empowers and limits the federal government. American troops must serve only under American commanders, not those of the United Nations or foreign countries.

Unconstitutional, Undeclared Wars

Since World War II, the United States has been involved in tragic, unconstitutional, undeclared wars which cost our country the lives of many thousands of young Americans. These wars were the direct and foreseeable result of the bi-partisan interventionist policy of both Democrat and Republican administrations. Only the Congress has the Constitutional authority To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water; To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years; To provide and maintain a navy; (Article 1 Sec. 8). We are not authorized to give the President the authority to send troops anywhere to enforce UN resolutions or otherwise.

Foreign Involvement/ Foreign Aid

America must deal with its own problems first. Would you feed, clothe and take care of your neighbors while your own family is starving and dying? No! This isn’t to say that I support an isolationist ideology, but we must be good stewards over the resources and responsibilities that God has given to us. The US participates in sending our tax dollars to fund groups like: the World Bank, the United Nations, NATO, the International Monetary Fund, and the Export-Import Bank. These are international groups, not American groups. This means that our best interests are not always the main focus. We need to take care of the issues that we have here in the US, first.

The US also has troops in over 100 nations; this is not authorized by the Constitution. All of the troops that we have scattered throughout the world are not defending US liberty. Some of our troops are protecting our friends and their interests. I am in favor of helping our friends, but not at the expense of my own family. Take care of home first! What is the underlying motive of our politicians taking care of friends before family? Think about that. American taxpayers need that money that’s being used to fund all of these overseas operations in our pockets. A lot of times our government helps, funds, aids and gives comfort to those who do not always have our best interest at heart (2 Chronicles 19:2). This is not a Biblical or a Constitutional stance on this matter; yet many Republicans and Democrats support this type of foreign involvement with our tax dollars.

Gun Control

All gun laws that restrict law-abiding citizens from carrying firearms are Unconstitutional. The right to bear arms is inherent in the right of self defense, defense of the family, and defense against tyranny, conferred on the individual and the community by our Creator to safeguard life, liberty, and property, as well as to help preserve the independence of the nation. The right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the Constitution; it may not properly be infringed upon or denied. If gun control existed centuries ago with the British and the Colonists, there would be no America. Restricting the law-abiding citizens from owning firearms would mean that the only people who would have guns would be the government and the criminals. Who is going to defend the average person if we accept gun control? History teaches us that Stalin, Mao and Hitler all supported gun control. Guns are not bad, but guns in the hands of the wrong people are bad; especially when the good people cannot defend against them.

Health Care and Government

The Constitution opposes government intervention and the bureaucracy of American medicine. Government regulation and subsidy constitutes a threat to both the quality and availability of patient-oriented health care and treatment. Hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers should be accountable to patients - not to politicians, insurance bureaucrats, or HMO Administrators. If the supply of medical care is controlled by the federal government, then officers of that government will determine which demand is satisfied. The result will be the rationing of services, higher costs, poorer results - and the power of life and death transferred from caring physicians to unaccountable political overseers. Simply put, medicine is big business in America. The people’s best interests are not the priority in this matter. Healthcare is not a government issue; it is a private matter between patient and doctor. The government should stay out of this private sector matter and let the market determine the best practices. The good healthcare professionals will get the patients and the corrupt doctors will be out of business if the patients are allowed to decide without government intervention.

Immigration

The integrity of the international borders of the United States, the Constitutional authority and duty of the federal government to guard and to protect those borders should be enforced at all times. Can immigrants from any nation come here as they wish? Or just anyone who comes through Mexico? Again, this is an issue that Republicans and Democrats are using as a political hot potato. Allowing illegal immigration to take place and then granting them amnesty is illegal. A certain amount of immigrants who would like to come to America each year and assimilate into our society should be given that opportunity, as long as the established rules are followed. We now have a Hispanic population that has surpassed the African American population. Many of these immigrants are illegal and demanding rights. This is totally unacceptable. Even though many of them are good people who are helping our economy, many people are still forgetting that these people broke the law to get here. Let’s not forget that approximately 25% of the inmates in US prisons are illegal immigrants. Immigrations should be scrutinized more closely and not politicized.

Money and Banking

One function of money is a medium of exchange. The Founding Fathers established a system of "coin" money that was designed to prohibit the "improper and wicked" manipulation of the nation's medium of exchange while guaranteeing the power of the citizens' earnings. The federal government has granted unconstitutional control of the nation's monetary and banking system to the private Federal Reserve System. It is necessary that the United States: Return to the money system set forth in the Constitution; Repeal the Federal Reserve Act, and reform the current Federal Reserve banks to become clearing houses only; and Prohibit fractional reserve banking. Besides, in Article 1 Sec 8 of the Constitution, only the Congress has the authority To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures.

Personal and Private Property Security

The Fourth Amendment right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, including arbitrary or de facto registration, general and unwarranted electronic surveillance, national computer databases, and national identification cards. This is not Nazi Germany, Russia or Guatemala where the government just busts down your door, you shut up and let the bullies take what they want. Do we still have the rule of law in this country? We have too many examples of recent history where bad cops and military personnel (not all, just a small, compartmentalized cadre) bust down people's door, arrest people unlawfully, frame people, and abuse the power with which they are supposed to be protecting and serving.

Religious Freedom

Article I of the Bill of Rights reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Our Constitution grants no authority to the federal government either to grant or deny the religious expressions of the people in any place. Both the First and Tenth Amendments forbid such tyranny. No church or religious organization is required to file forms for exemption status as stated in the IRS’s own publication #557……“a church, its integrated auxiliaries, or a convention or association of churches is not required to file Form 1023 to be exempt from federal income tax or to receive tax deductible contributions the organization may find it advantageous to obtain recognition of exemption.”

Welfare

God, who endows us with life, liberty, property, and the right to pursue happiness, also exhorts individuals (not the government) to care for the needy, the sick, the homeless, the aged, and those who are otherwise unable to care for themselves (James 2:15-17). America's welfare crisis is a government-induced crisis. Government social and cultural policies have undermined the work ethic, even as the government's economic and regulatory policies have undermined the ability of our citizens to obtain work. Charity, and provision of welfare to those in need, is not a Constitutional responsibility of the federal government. But they do this because the Church, of course, is asleep again and doesn’t understand its place in this world. Taxpayers of the United States should never be obligated, under penalty of law through forced taxation, to assume the cost of providing welfare for other citizens. Neither should taxpayers subsidize welfare for persons who enter the United States illegally. The message of Christian charity is fundamentally at odds with the concept of welfare maintenance as a right. In many cases, welfare provisions by the Federal government are not only misdirected, but morally destructive. It is the intended purpose of civil government to safeguard life, liberty and property - not to redistribute wealth. Such redistribution is contrary to the Biblical command against theft. Individuals, families, churches, civic groups and other private organizations are mandated to fulfill their personal responsibility to help the needy.

Wage and Price Control

The government has no authority to set wages and prices; so doing is inconsistent with principles of individual liberty and the free market. Let employers and employees decide the wages that each is willing to accept and to pay.

Tariffs and Trade

Article I, Section 8, of the Constitution states that Congress shall have the power "To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations." Congress may not abdicate or transfer these Constitutional powers to other agencies (domestic or foreign). The US doesn’t need to be apart of the United Nations, North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the World Trade Organization (WTO), Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), and all other agreements wherein agencies other than the Congress of the United States improperly assume responsibility for establishing American trade policies. Article I, Section 8 provides that duties, imposts, and excises are legitimate revenue-raising measures on which the United States government may properly rely.

Taxes

The Constitution, in Article I, Section 8, gives Congress the power "to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States." So as long as the government is using our tax dollars for things that they are authorized by the Constitution and God to do, I’m all for paying taxes. Therefore I’m sure that 25-35% or more of your paycheck is too much for the government to take from you each pay period. Let the Federal government do ONLY what it is authorized to do and we the people can keep our money to care for our families, invest, help our neighbors, travel, etc. Moreover, as permitted by the Constitution, the taxation of corporations is an appropriate source of government revenue. The Supreme Court has defined "income" as a "gain or increase arising from corporate activity or privilege."

Terrorism and Personal Liberty

America is engaged in an undeclared war with an ill-defined enemy (terrorism), a war which threatens to be never ending, and which is being used to vastly expand government power, particularly that of the executive branch, at the expense of the individual liberties of the American people. The "war on terrorism" is serving as an excuse for the government to spend beyond its income, expand the Federal bureaucracy, and socialize the nation through taxpayer bailouts of the airlines, subsidies to the giant insurance corporations, and other Federal programs. Any undermining of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments under the guise of "combating terrorism" or "protecting national security" should not be allowed. Examples of such legislation are: the National Security Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, and the proposed Domestic Securities Enhancement Act (colloquially known as "Patriot II"). The Patriot Act is as patriotic as Federal Express is a government corporation. It’s a misnomer designed to trick you. No good, patriotic American will vote against the Patriot Act(author sarcasm). It’s here to keep us safe. Yeah right! Next! Governments have used staged terrorists events to take the citizen's liberty for thousands of years, i.e. Nero burned the Coliseum in Rome and blamed it on the Christians, Hitler burning the Reichstag and blamed it on his political enemies, and he also bombed a German base and used that as the pretext to invade Poland. We need to make sure that our government is accountable to us. We can't just give them Carte Blanche trust, so to speak.

Social Security

The Constitution grants no authority to the federal government to administrate a Social Security system. People should be given a choice whether or not they want to be involved in this system. Politicians dip into this large pool of money to cover there short falls in exchange for IOU’s. Let people invest their own money if they want or let some other private sector investment firm(s) be another option. Let the market decide this issue and not let the government have a monopoly over the people’s private money.

{Author’s thought: My choice for President is not a Republican or a Democrat, but it happens to be a man who adheres to the same school of thought and principles that I support: Congressman Ron Paul (R) Texas. Don’t be suckered into the phony left-right debate, the name calling and labeling, i.e., left wing, right wing, centrist, conservative, liberal, libertarian, etc. This is all done to confuse you, just stick with the issues, history, the Constitution and the Bible. I like some of what Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Congressman Duncan Hunter, Senator Sam Brownback, Congressman Tom Tancredo say, but I’m going with Ron Paul because of his strict adherence to Constitutional politics. I don’t know if I agree with him 100% on every issue, but he’s a lot closer than the other candidates. Certainly no one in the Democratic race is worthy of my vote because of their blatant neglect to Biblical authority and a Constitutional mandate; and Christians should really question their belief system before voting. All people need to get informed, and vote based upon principle and not form or fashion. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!}

Are you a Spiritual Christian or Just a Christian Who Attends Church?

Psalm 103:7
He made known his ways (relationship) unto Moses, his acts (demonstration of power or ability) unto the children of Israel.

This is a powerful Scripture that exemplifies the manifestation of God in the lives of believers: God’s ways vs. God’s acts. Do you have a relationship with God or are you just a Christian? Think before you answer, because even if you are a Christian the answer might surprise you. Now don’t get off-course and get carnal, I’m here to challenge your thinking. I’m not saying that you are or are not a Christian. Remember the BG Street motto: get relevant information, and think critically about that information so that you can make sound decisions that affect you and your family. This is an article that will challenge your walk with God. It will cause you to back up and reassess your beliefs, your relationship with God, and possibly to cause you to go to a higher level in God. This isn’t the article that’s going to feed your fleshly appetite like the sex article or the dating article that I wrote. This article is going to challenge your heart (spirit). Those that have ears to hear and eyes to see will grasp the principles outlined in this article. Regardless of your spiritual growth level in God, if your heart is right, you can jump right into this article, find yourself in God, and gain powerful insights to further solidify what you have with God. So again I ask you, “Do you have a relationship with God or are you just a Christian?”

For the sake of time and space, let me just say as lovingly and honestly as I can that just because all humans are created by God doesn’t mean that we are all God’s children (John 1:12). Creation is one thing; and being a child of God is another. According to the 1997 World Almanac, statistics for mid-1995 world religious groups accounted for nearly 2 billion people claiming to be Christians. That is a lot of people, and some of you might be intimidated by such a large number of people. Well, don’t be intimidated, because if you follow the principles of the Word of God in this article, you will become a more spiritual Christian who walks more closely with God.

God loves everyone whether they accept Christ or not (John 3:16; Romans 5:8), so please understand that God is not mad at you no matter your situation, sin or vice. The believers of Jesus have a spiritually correct relationship with God, He is our Father and we are His children. That is a spiritual relationship that we have because we are spiritually born of Him (John 1:13), and our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Revelation 21:27). This is a great position in which to be, but it is a very shallow one if that is all that you have. Going to Heaven one day is a great thing, but if you are just a Christian who is saved and that’s it. How sad is that? Remember the opening Scripture? Moses knew God’s ways and the children of Israel knew God’s acts. Moses had a relationship with God, and the children of Israel only knew the might and power of God. Can you imagine being related to the person who created the land, sky, sea and all that is in them? Can you imagine Him making available to you the Wisdom of the Ages? Can you imagine not being proactive and not finding out what’s in His heart? What’s on His mind? Can you imagine having the invitation, but not cultivating a relationship with a being this great?

A lot of times, this is the case in the church. The church is related to God, but many haven’t cultivated their relationship passed the spiritual connection (receiving salvation). Shouting in church, boisterous prayers from the orators, quoting Scriptures, speaking in tongues, and saying the latest church lingo is not the litmus test for having a serious relationship with God. In fact, it isn’t based upon outward things such as these; yet it is based upon a yielded life to Him. Think about it in natural terms: a coach, a teacher, a boss, a trainer will impart more information and time into the protégé or student who obeys and makes time to be with him/her. God is the same way. He is a gentleman who doesn’t force His Word, Will or Wisdom on anyone. Make yourself available to God and He will oblige you. Jesus said in Matthew 5:6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” The key words are hunger and thirst; these are words that cause one to pursue that which will satisfy emptiness. So just because God is your Father doesn’t mean you’re going to have God’s insights, and ways. You have to pursue God. When a man wants a woman, he pursues her. When we get hungry, we go get something to eat. Pursuit demonstrates your desire for what you say you want. Remember that! The Apostle Paul said in Romans 10:1Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.” He proved that he had a desire by praying. Desire is the prompting, but prayer was the action. Put some action with your prompting.

You can be a born again Christian but still be a carnal or unskilled Christian (a Christian that doesn’t do things according to God’s way of doing things). We all start out in this position, just like a baby, but as a baby grows naturally, a Christian should grow spiritually from drinking spiritual milk to eating spiritual meat (1 Corinthians 3:2; 1 Peter 2:2).

A few things to consider if you want to be a spiritual Christian:

  • Remember that God loves everyone and He is available to everyone (John 3:16)
  • God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).
  • God desires us to fellowship with Him. (John 14:23)
  • According to Romans 2:4the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.” God’s goodness is His glory or a manifestation of who He is, and this will lead you to repentance (signifying a relationship). God reveals Himself so that you will pursue Him. Then you pursue the initial revelation and your relationship with God gets a little bit stronger. As the relationship strengthens, God will reveal more of Himself, which will in turn cause you to seek after more of God; and your relationship with God will strengthen, and you’ll seek after more revelation, et cetera, ad infinitum. It’s a cycle that never ends unless you stop it, because God wants to always satisfy your desire for Him. This is the earmark of a spiritual Christian: pursuing more of God. He is inexhaustible, and we can always improve ourselves and receive more.
  • Spiritual gifts, great prayers and quoting many Bible verses are not a litmus test for spiritual strength or a strong relationship with God. The Corinthian Church was operating in the spiritual gifts of God (speaking in tongues, prophecy, healings, etc.), but the Apostle Paul said that they were carnal because they lacked loved and spiritual maturity (1 Corinthians 3:3).
  • Always remember that your relationship with God is personal and that only you can cultivate it and make it stronger. (Philippians 2:12-13; Philippians 3:13-14).
    God is your sufficiency (2 Corinthians 3:5).
  • Remember that your relationship with God will not deviate from the foundation of the Word of God, Jesus (1 Corinthians 3:10-11).
  • If you pray according to God’s Word on any matter then stand bold and confident that you have the answer (1 John 5:14-15)
  • Remember, not all Christians will encourage you to seek after God and have a personal and genuine relationship with Him. Everyone has different motives, drives and desires. Just be concerned with following your own heart and passion.
  • Remember, not everyone in the Church has a strong relationship with God. God may reveal things to you that others don’t understand. Always discern the spirituality of those with whom you associate. Don’t act like you’re better than others, but merely use discretion in discussing certain things with certain people. Joseph made that mistake and revealed God’s dream to his brothers (Genesis 37). In return, he was beat up, thrown in a pit and sold into slavery. Follow God’s timing and leading if you want to share His wisdom with others.
  • Have a routine and an atmosphere that works for you in developing your relationship with God. There is no set way to commune with God. What works for one person, may not work for another. For example, you may or may not like music on while spending time with God; you don’t have to pray for five (5) hours a day; you don’t have to pray while you’re kneeling; you don’t have to go on a forty (40) day fast; you don’t have to read the Bible everyday. It’s your relationship with God, so whatever you and God decide, do that.
  • Listening to good teaching of the Word of God is great, but always take that teaching back to the Word of God and test it (1 Thessalonians 5:21). No mere mortal is greater than the Word of God, so use it as your standard and not your leaders and/or mentors. If you hear a teaching that you aren’t too sure about, don’t follow the teaching, follow the witness in your heart (1 John 2:20). God will give you wisdom (James 1:5).
  • Always be willing to pass your faith on to those who are pursuing what you have.
  • Never take credit for the things that God is doing in your life. Have an attitude of gratitude to God.
  • Let God deal with you on the sins, shortcomings and character flaws that you have. People will try to condemn you but only God knows your heart, and He has your best interest in mind. God will deal with you on areas He wants you to fix. Be true to yourself and to God, and always follow your conscience (John 16:13).
  • Never frustrate the grace of God (Galatians 2:21) and purposefully sin because you know that God will forgive you (1 Peter 2:16). He will forgive you (1 John 1:9), but remember that you are walking with God (Micah 6:8).
  • Remember that we do live under grace and not under the law. Don’t let people put you in bondage because they may have overcome a sin that may still afflict you. If you ever feel condemned, that isn’t of God (Romans 8:1). The Holy Spirit will prick your heart (Acts 2:37) to repentance.


Examples of Christ’s relationship with the Father (Christ is our example to follow).

Notice how Jesus continually mentions that He KNOWS HIM. Knowing God personally, and reading about God in a book is totally different. Salvation is instantaneous, but building a personal relationship takes time. Jesus began His earthly ministry at age 30. A lot of preparation was done for approximately a 3 year ministry. But the results of His ministry were powerful and are still changing the world.

  • John 5:32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

  • John 7:28-29 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

  • John 8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

  • John 8:55 Yet ye have not known Him; but I know Him: and if I should say, I know Him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know Him, and keep His saying.

  • John 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

  • John 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

  • John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Can you honestly say that you know God? Not know about Him, but know Him? Don’t be a religious Christian, be a truly spiritual Christian in private and in the public. Use these insights and live well!

Pope falsely claims that Catholicism is the only true path to salvation

“Pope Benedict XVI reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday (July 10, 2007) that says other Christian communities is either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation.”





I am not supportive of the Ecumenical Movement and the “melting pot religion” theory that the World Council of Churches promotes (the ideology that we are all God’s children and that we can just all worship God in our own special way that works for each individual). If that was the case then we wouldn’t need specific instructions from God, i.e., the Bible. I would love to worship God with the whole world, but the Bible is explicit about salvation and the foundational truths of Christianity.

The Christian Church should be outraged and should speak out against this sacrilegious comment, and preachers should demand a retraction from the pope. The pope is basically saying that the Christians are just wasting their time and deceiving people. Over one billion people (Catholics) are following a man and an institution that believes such a blatant lie against the Blood of Jesus and the salvation that ONLY HE CAN PROVIDE (Acts 4:10-12). Well surely over one billion people can’t be wrong. Can they? If the majority or a lot of people are doing it then it must be right. Correct? No it isn't. Was the majority correct who told Christopher Columbus that the earth is flat? Long before Columbus, the Prophet Isaiah spoke about a spherical earth circa 700 B.C. (Isaiah 40:22). But the majority said that Columbus was crazy; they said that he was going to fall off of the face of the earth. But we now know that Isaiah and Columbus were correct. Numbers of people mean nothing, only the words of the inerrant Word of God matters. Just because an influential person or a large group of people declare something, that doesn’t mean that it is the truth.

Human nature, deception and Scriptural ignorance are partly the cause of why many people will probably believe this lie that the pope is espousing. There is no Scripture that supports his comment. In fact, multiple Scriptures are diametrically opposed to it. But where are the strong Christian leaders that should be speaking out concerning this matter? Where are the John the Baptist-like preachers of this day? Where is the modern day Jesus preacher? Today’s Apostle Paul? The preachers that will stand flatfooted on the Word of God and proclaim, “Herod, it is unlawful for you to have your brother’s wife!” Where is the kind of intestinal fortitude that will cause a man to speak the truth with the entire world against Him? The religious people in Jesus’ time threatened to throw Him off of the brow of the hill and he walked calmly out of their midst (Luke 4:28-30). Where is that boldness and commanding presence? We saw that boldness in the book of Acts 4:13, 29 and 31. Where is that preacher that has the confidence to cry aloud and spare not (Isaiah 58:1)?

Christians must be more vocal on things other than the abortion issue. I believe that we should fight for the life of the unborn, but it seems as though it’s the only topic about which most Christians will truly get passionate. Well, that’s not enough! We have been given the tremendous honor and responsibility of being “the salt of the earth and the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-14). Salt is a preservative and light dispels darkness. The Church is also known as “the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15). Is the Church preserving the standard of truth, right, truth and freedom? Look at the real world; look at the laws that are being passed in the governments of the world. The Church has quit being the influential voice of Heaven on earth like the Church use to be. We now have politicians and religious leaders that live and work in hallowed halls made of marble and glass, while poverty, murder, immorality, divorce, et cetera are steadily on the rise worldwide. Why would unbelievers want to join the Church? How are we representing the Kingdom of God? God is awesome all by Himself, but we are His ambassadors on the earth. Many times, how people see us is how they see God. From my own personal experience of needing God in my life, I was truly turned off for years about accepting Christ because of the Christians I saw. But I hit such a low point in my life that I emotionally and spiritually had no choice but to forget those people, and accept God’s peace. My point is that we must stand for the truth and represent God at all times, and at every place; speak up, defend the faith and have a lifestyle to match.

Scriptural Things to Consider


  • Nowhere in Scripture is a pope or a monsignor mentioned.
  • All Christians are mentioned as saints (1 Corinthians 1:2, 2 Corinthians 13:13); it isn’t some unattainable goal or status for the select few within the Church after death. The Church of Jesus Christ is the saints.
  • The believers of God, after Jesus ascended to Heaven, were “called Christians first in Antioch” (Acts 11:26). There was never a mention of Catholics or Catholicism.
  • Confessing your sins to an earthly priest is not Scriptural. But we are instructed to confess our sins to our Heavenly High Priest (1 John 1:9) who saves to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25). The Church is also called a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). “We have been made kings and priests unto God” (Revelation 1:6)
  • Mary, the mother of Jesus, was said to be blessed among women, not above them (Luke 1:28). There is no need no to worship or specially honor her like we do God. We are only commanded to worship God. (John 4:23-24, Revelation 19:10, Revelation 22:9). Mary commanded the servants at the wedding in Cana, “whatever He (Jesus) tells you to do, do it” (John 2:5).
  • Salvation doesn’t come from an institution; it comes from Jesus (John 14:6). It doesn’t come thru Mary, Peter, and it doesn’t even come directly from God. God ONLY manifested His salvation, grace and truth through Jesus (John 1:14).
  • Jesus told Peter that upon his confession of faith in Him, that Jesus would build His Church (Matthew 16:13-18).
  • All of the Old Testament prophets foretold of Jesus’ coming and His salvation and deliverance. Father God spoke from Heaven (Mark 1:11), confirmed and anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power (Acts 10:38). Jesus pointed people ONLY to Himself (Mark 1:17, John 14:6, Matthew 11:25-30). The Holy Spirit only testifies of (John 15:26), bears witness with and glorifies Jesus (John 16:14).
  • The Apostles ONLY were witnesses for Jesus Christ, not a religious institution or a man other than Jesus Christ (Acts 4:10-12, Acts 10:43). This isn’t to say that the parishioners of the Catholic Church are bad people. I believe that there are some very sincere people who accept Christ for salvation in the Catholic Church, but they are ignorant of Scripture in other respects. But we as Christians can’t compromise the truth and think that everything is fine. We can be tactful in our defense of the faith, and build bridges instead of walls. But we can’t ignore comments such as the pope’s recent lie.
  • From a historical standpoint, the Protestant Reformation and the 95 Thesis of Martin Luther confirmed the philosophical, foundational and Scriptural differences between Catholicism (a man-made religious institution) and Christianity (God Almighty and His children).

In conclusion, not even the Christian Church can save you; not good works; not going to church and praying; not being baptized or reading the Bible; not being a good person, and certainly not because your parents are Christians, because God doesn’t have grandchildren, only children. Please read God’s Word for yourself and see what He said concerning salvation. Quite simply Romans 10:9-10, 13 says it as succinctly as possible: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and if you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead for you, then you will instantly be saved. Your heart felt faith makes you right with God, but your mouth confession immediately seals the deal. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be instantly born (spiritually) again or saved-- BG Street Version. Live well!

Understanding the Times in Which We Live

1 Chronicles 12:32 “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do;”



We are living in a time unlike any other that has ever existed. Today, ancient prophecies are unfolding, people are looking for answers to some of life’s most puzzling concerns and most of the Church is still asleep. I hear people saying that some of “the Church is so Heavenly-minded that they are no earthly good.” This is unfortunate and I hate to agree with this statement, but it does carry some validity. Many of the people they are referencing are good hearted, born-again Christians; yet they have no circle of influence, no appeal, no practical and/or real-life application of the Word of God in their personal lives, and no drive to be more than status-quo believers waiting for the sweet bye and bye (Heaven). They have a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof (2 Timothy 3:5). We all know people like this, reminiscent of an Aunt Esther from Sanford and Son, known for nothing but going to church, doing good deeds and being religious. Now ask yourself, who would want to be like Aunt Esther? Answer: no one should. It’s sad that God has given His people all things pertaining to life and Godliness (2 Peter 1:3), yet the Church is a laughingstock in the earth. God has made us the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-14). We have been made the pillar and ground of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15), but many times we are the most uninformed on many of today’s most important topics, such as: politics, current events and financial matters. The secular world doesn’t come to the Church for answers; unfortunately, many in the Church go to the secular world for answers. That’s backwards! As I write this article, I recently saw an advertisement for the new Simpson’s movie. In the trailer, Springfield (the Simpson’s town) was going to be destroyed by some sort of apocalyptic crisis. The father (Homer) was reading the Bible and was getting worried and said that there were no answers in it. Although it was a cartoon, it is a testament to the attitude that the secular world has about Christians and the Bible. It’s a pitiful witness, and that’s why we must understand the times and the world in which we live (as Christians, individuals, business owners, parents, teachers, community leaders), in order to be effective in decision making and providing direction for the ones we influence.



In the earlier years of this country, being a Christian was a societal litmus test for honor, respect and integrity; but today, it is shunned and despised among many. The true preachers were the conscious of the nation. They spoke out against injustices and the Governmental leaders acted accordingly to the outcry of the pulpit. The Old Testament (OT) prophets and early New Testament (NT) Church leaders were counsel to Government leaders; God’s people were the elders of the gate (the seat of authority in the community). A once respected people are now a disrespected, uninformed group of followers rather than leaders. God has made us the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13); we should be on the offensive, being leaders, pioneers and trailblazers; but now, the Church is seemingly on the defensive, waiting for God to change things and rescue us. What the Church doesn’t realize is that we (the Church) have let things get to this point in this country where God and His way of doing things is the exception, and not the standard. I believe that God is a deliverer and can use us to change things, Jesus’ name means Jehovah is salvation (deliverance). But we must walk in the authority that God has given us, stop compromising, stop being ignorant of the natural world in which we live, and move forward. We have to use what God has given us (naturally), God will do his part (supernaturally), and fill in the areas that we CANNOT supply. A lot of Christians make the mistake of just taking care of their spiritual obligations, such as: praying, fasting, believing, confessing, etc. This is good, but it’s not good enough. If you worked at the right job, you could make all of the money you needed without praying, giving, etc. (i.e., entertainers are multi-millionaires and many of them don’t claim Jesus). Remember this, God works through the natural realm. For example, when the Red Sea was parted, Moses stretched his hand out and then God caused a strong east wind to come and part the waters (Exodus 14:21). God uses natural things in the earth to bless us. God doesn’t drop money out of the sky. He blesses us through people and opportunities. Where are the opportunities around you? There is no pie in the sky. Understand how life and the world’s systems work. It is a cop out to say believe God, be a giver, and have faith in God. Yes we should do these things, but we must not neglect out natural obligations either. Do what you can in the natural, give God something to bless. Understanding the times in which we live is part and parcel to living a successful life on this earth.



Financial



We must understand how money works. We all have it and need it, so we should understand the mechanics of how business and economics works to some degree. Now this isn’t to say that you need to get a college education in finance, but a few solid books and some God-given common sense will give you the information that you need to understand what’s going on around you. Too often, unfortunately, the majority of the financial advice we hear from Christians and the pulpits is: tithe, be a giver and trust God. I think that is such a cop out. Do you know why I say that? Because there are many secular people who don’t care anything about Jesus and they have more money then they can spend. Money is a reward for your labor, creativity and expertise. Remember that! You don’t have to be a Christian to be prosperous; you just have to understand how to play the money game. If you understand the game and follow the rules, then you win. If you don’t understand the game and you don’t follow the rules, then you’ll just walk around defeated, always believing that God will deliver you from the natural world, that you can do yourself with a little education and application. In Luke 16:8 Jesus said “for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” [Author’s note: Just because you become a Christian doesn’t mean that you are to give up your common sense. God gave us brains with which to think. You don’t have to fast and pray about everything. For example, if you are tired, go to bed. There’s no need in pretending to be super-spiritual and praying all hours of the night when your body is naturally tired. Stop being religious! If God truly needs for you to stay up all night, He will anoint you for the task and it won’t be grievous (1 John 5:3). There’s a difference between being “religious” and having a genuine and personal relationship with God. Remember that!]



Here are a few examples of understanding the world’s financial system: the Stock Market and the banking industry. Many people don’t realize that the rich (corporate owners) offer employees and regular wage earners the opportunity to purchase shares of company stock, 401K’s, pension funds, etc. In exchange for this investment, the corporations take the worker’s cash contributions and reinvest this money in more aggressive and profitable investment opportunities. [Author’s note: Did you realize that banks and many wealthy people take advantage of the overnight interest rate? When you hear about the Federal Reserve raising or lowering the interest rates, they are actually talking about the overnight interest rate (an investment opportunity to which most people are not privy). If you were able to open one of these overnight/overseas/offshore accounts with $100,000.00 for a month, after 30 days you would have your principal returned to you, plus the +/- 5% daily compounding interest that goes with it. (Put $100,000.00 in your calculator and multiply it times 1.05 or 5% and hit the equal sign 30 times, meaning 30 days or a month. It totals over $425,000.00) If you ask your local banker about this, he/she will look at you like you have five heads. They will tell you all the reasons in the world not to be bothered with this type of investment (because they don’t know about it). “They’ll also say that if it was that easy, then everybody would be doing it;” “it’s too good to be true;” “the banks would never be able to get away with that.” Yet they are getting away with it everyday, at your expense. Banks and investment vehicles are only concerned with getting your money locked up for as long as they can, so that they can get the interest and credit for the highest account balance possible. That’s why they penalize you if you withdrawal your money before the term, because they anticipated on flipping your money around a few more times. So they make the difference of what they are losing by not using your money with a penalty. Another question: if you want to cash out your sizeable 401K, how long does it take for you to receive the check? Weeks or months? Theoretically, they can cut the check the same day. They call it processing time, but I call it getting that last little bit of interest off of your hard-earned money. It’s just like 3 to 5 business days for a check to clear. It’s a scam, folks! I know too many so-called “professionals” in real estate, banking, etc. who know less about their field than me. I teach some people about their own field. It’s sad! They are the professionals telling me their scripted answer about an issue, and then I end up correcting them and explaining “the game” to them. OK, I apologize for digressing, but you folks know how much of a passion this stuff is for me.]

What do you think that the insurance companies do with our monthly premiums for car, health and homeowners insurance? They take our money and invest it and reinvest it in the stock and currency market, that’s were it ultimately ends up. They use our money, and make a lot more. Then they reward the people’s portfolios with a 10%-25% per annum return. Sounds great, huh? They make more than that in one day with our money. Through Government compulsion (laws) we must maintain uninterrupted insurance on our cars/homes. But if there is no accident during the claim period, do you get a refund? No! Some companies throw you a bone, but ask them how much money they made off of our premiums for the year; and no claim was made against it. Do you understand that? It’s all a scam, big business and Governments work together, and it’s never for the benefit of the working class people. Remember that! If you don’t understand what I mean, you’ll see in the next example.



Homeowners get sizeable tax returns if they itemize and claim their mortgage interest when they file their taxes. Question: what does a private bank mortgage loan have to do with the Federal government giving you several thousands of dollars back at tax time? Think about it: the Federal Government and a private bank. It’s all a scam. These banks work with the Government to loan money. The banks create zeroes and ones as computer entries, and that’s your loan. It’s a loan created out of thin air. If you or I did that, we’d be busted for fraud. They then created a formula called amortization with is another scam that ends up being roughly 2-3 times the initial loan amount at maturity (360 months or 30 years). Now, here is the scam. If the bank created your loan as number computer entries, and not actual dollars transferring from bank to bank, then how much is this loan costing the bank and how much is it costing you? Let me say it another way. If you ask me to loan you ten dollars, I reach into my pocket and physically give you $10. Then you eventually repay me $10. But if I loaned you money as the banks do it, I’d go to my computer open up an account for you in my system and approve a $10 credit for you. No physical money moved from one place to another, it just appeared on my computer screen because I put it there. You get scammed because not only do you have to pay this fraudulent loan off 2 or 3 times via amortization, but you have to battle with adjustable interest rates, an unlikely possibility of the bank calling your loan in, and being under a task master working off a 30 year mortgage (derived from a French word which means a death pledge). It’s a great scam for the banks and the Government because the banks lend more money, which means that they can expect monthly income from the homeowners paying on those mortgage notes. Banks then pass these liabilities onto the equities markets, which in turn are packaged as derivatives (combination of many high risk investments). The homeowner is generally happy in all of this because at tax time they can expect several thousands of dollars to be returned to him/her. It’s a nice cushion for him/her to use throughout the year, and the scam continues year after year. Question: If you get a $10,000.00 from the Federal Government, how much do you think that they made off of you in order to give you $10,000.00? They can’t give you what they don’t have and they aren’t going to give you what you gave them. Understand? How many thousands of percent are the banks making off of your bank loans if the money is created on a computer screen (just like credit cards)? Answer: they are making the amount of money you are paying them in percents. In other words, if I have nothing and you give me $100.00, that’s not a 100% increase. If I had $100.00 and made another $100.00 from my initial $100.00, that’s a 100% return (double your investment). But the banks put up $0 and they are accumulating large sums of money at the maturity of the note. How do you quantify $300,000.00 from $0 in terms of percentage earned? It’s astronomical! Do you understand that? Folks, I’m not saying that it’s bad to own a home, but I’m just letting you that we must be cognizant of the system and the rules associated with the system of which we are apart. Like I said earlier, if you understand the game and follow the rules, then you win. If you don’t understand the game and don’t follow the rules, then you’ll just walk around defeated, always believing that God will deliver you from the natural world, that you can do yourself with a little education and application. Knowing the game and the rules will allow you to navigate into other areas and possibly allow you to take advantage of uncommon situations. Pay attention to the rules, it’s not hard to understand, but you must fashion your mind to think another way sometimes.



Government, the Prophetic and Technology



I’ll continue this article at another time and address these issues. This article became longer than I thought. There’s so much more to write. There’s so much and I can’t expound upon everything like I desire, because of space constraints. But these articles will be made into chapters and sections in my upcoming book. I’m really excited about it, and I hope that you are enjoying the information. As far as this section concerning Government, the Prophetic and Technology goes, don’t worry and don’t be afraid, the big bad anti-Christ isn’t going to come and put a bar-coded microchip on your hand or forehead. Don’t let the “Left Behind” movies scare you. There is some strange technology that the government and others will be using in the future, but it’s only detrimental to you if you are uninformed. This entire system that they are concocting of control grid, surveillance, and big brother of 1984 (the book and movie) proportions is going to ultimately fail. Lack of sound information always breeds ignorance. Always go back to the Source. The Word of God is the Source. So anchor yourself in it and find out what it says before you run off on either side of the road. Let the Word of God balance you and keep you in focus. Remember that! Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy (Revelation 1:3). See, you’re blessed by the words of the prophetic, not doomed. [Author’s note: I want to stress the main focus of this website: to cause you to think about pertinent issues that affect your daily life. That is why I don’t address irrelevant stories about Paris Hilton’s jail term, Dan Rather’s comments about Katie Couric being an agent to dumb-down the CBS viewers, the recent memorial celebration for Princess Diana or Barry Bond’s being elected as the oldest starter in an MLB All-Star game. These stories won’t help your life, these are filler stories to keep you occupied and distracted from real news. Look at real issues and ask questions. You have the capacity to analyze and think critically. You will also be surprised at how much more intelligent you are in comparison to some of the people we admire on television. Most of them aren’t the brightest bulbs in the box.] Live well!
